During the Snapdragon Tech Summit last year, Xiaomi confirmed that its upcoming flagship Mi 10 will be launched in the first quarter of 2020. As expected, Xiaomi also confirmed that the device would feature Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC — the Snapdragon 865. However, we soon learned that the company was planning to launch another device alongside the Mi 10 — the Mi 10 Pro. The device was spotted in an MIUI 11 nightly build for the Redmi K30 5G, codename and all, and we also learned that the device would feature 66-watt super-fast charging. While we didn’t have any additional information about the devices back then, we now have reason to believe that both the upcoming flagships from Xiaomi will feature a 108MP primary camera.
Xiaomi was the first company to launch a smartphone with Samsung’s 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor back in November last year. The Mi CC9 Pro, which was dubbed the Mi Note 10 Pro internationally, featured a total of five camera sensors. These included the aforementioned 108MP sensor, a 20MP super wide-angle sensor, a 5MP telephoto, a 12MP dedicated portrait camera, and a dedicated macro sensor. However, before the device was launched, we already had information suggesting that Xiaomi was working on four devices with the 108MP sensor. These devices, codenamed Tucana, Draco, Umi, and Cmi, were spotted in an update for MIUI’s stock gallery app which introduced support for 108MP photos. Out of the four devices, Tucana is the Mi Note 10 Pro and Draco is the Mi Mix Alpha (hands-on) — a concept smartphone from the company which was first revealed all the way back in September last year. This left two devices, Umi and Cmi, which we can now confirm are the upcoming Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
We’ve obtained build.prop files for two Xiaomi devices, codenamed “Umi” and “Cmi”. The build.prop files confirm that “Umi” is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 while “Cmi” is the Mi 10 Pro. Both the devices, as expected, are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 platform and are running MIUI 11 based on Android 10. These build.prop files also confirm that the devices will feature a 108MP sensor which could, most likely, be the same Samsung sensor found on the Mi Mix Alpha and the Mi Note 10.
