Following up on the Moto G9 Play launch in September, Motorola today announced yet another model in its Moto G series: Moto G9 Power. The Moto G9 Power is a direct successor to the last year’s Moto G8 Power and brings along an improved primary camera, a bigger battery, and a slightly bigger display.

On the front, the Moto G9 Power flaunts a 6.8-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with a resolution of 1640 x 720, which is a step down from its predecessor’s Full HD+ display. This phone’s biggest upgrade is the primary camera, with the phone now packing a 64MP f/1.8 sensor compared to the previous 16MP shooter. Other sensors include 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. The front shooter is a 16MP sensor.
Powering the device from the inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, a rather strange move considering the Moto G8 Power had a Snapdragon 665. The Snapdragon 662 is exactly the same as the Snapdragon 665 in CPU and GPU areas, but it does have a slightly inferior modem. The phone comes in only one variant packing 4GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
Another important upgrade on the Moto G9 Power is a bigger 6,000 mAh battery, up from 5,000 mAh on the last model, which Motorola claims lasts up to 60 hours. The phone comes via a 20W fast charger that comes inside the box.
On the software front, the Moto G9 Power runs a near-stock version of Android 10 with a handful of Motorola’s customizations on top. Other specs of the phone include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, microSD card expansion support, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a 3.5mm jack, and a single bottom-firing speaker.
Pricing & Availability
The Moto G9 Power comes in two colors: Metallic Sage and Electric Violet. The device is priced at £179/€199, but Motorola hasn’t yet revealed the exact availability details for Europe and other markets.
