Redmi K30 Pro to come with 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, 8K video recording, Dual OIS

The Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro is coming to China on March 24, 2020, and Redmi has already begun its slew of device teasers which detail various aspects of the device in the run up to its launch. The Redmi K30 Pro will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, as well as a single pop-up camera, an improved vibration motor, Game Turbo 3.0 with voice changer, AMOLED display with HDR10+ support, and more. Today, Redmi has revealed the fourth color variant, gray with red power button, as well as dropped a few key details about the camera.

The Redmi K30 Pro is equipped with the 64MP Sony IMX686 camera for its primary setup on the rear. This includes a large 1/1.7″ sensor, 1.6μm after pixel-binning and a 7P lens setup. The sensor will also be capable of 8K video recording (resolution of 7680 × 4320)

The Redmi K30 Pro will also feature dual OIS, which is OIS plus EIS, resulting in steady videos even in sub-optimal situations. The rear camera setup also includes a telephoto sensor capable of 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.

There a few things which are left unexplored yet. For instance, Redmi has not yet revealed what the other two sensors would be. The front camera is also left unexplored — we just know that it will be a popup camera and have multi-colored LEDs on the side of the popup (unlike the Redmi K20 series which had a single color LED). Redmi has also not clarified the refresh rate of the display, which we continue to presume to be 60Hz only. Battery and fast charging technologies within the phone are also left unexplored, as well as several smaller bits and pieces. We do know that the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, though. We also do not know what would be the differentiating aspects of the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition against the regular variant. We hope to find all of these soon enough.
