Download: Xiaomi Mi 10 gets official Android 11 Beta 1 build

Android 11 Beta 1, as the name implies, is the first beta from Google for its upcoming Android release. Beta 1 comes after a string of Developer Previews (namely  Preview 1Preview 2Preview 3, and Preview 4). While Developer Previews remained restricted to Google Pixel devices, the Betas have been making their way to several other devices from other OEMs. OnePlus released Beta 1 builds for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, and Vivo has released builds for the Vivo Nex 3S and iQOO 3. Xiaomi promised to release builds for the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and the POCO F2 Pro. Now, Android 11 Beta 1 is live for the Xiaomi Mi 10.

It was widely believed that the first beta for the Xiaomi Mi 10 would be with MIUI on top since the announcement for the beta release was done through the official Twitter handle of MIUI. However, the URL of the build that has gone live indicates that this build is based on AOSP and does not come with MIUI on top.

Currently, builds are available only for the Xiaomi Mi 10. But we presume that builds will be pushed for the other promised devices soon. We will update the article when we get access to the same.

Flashing instructions for the Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, POCO F2 Pro

Since the official ROM comes in the form of a .tgz extension, commonly referred to as a Fastboot ROM, it requires a Windows computer for installation. You also need to have a phone with an unlocked bootloader. Instructions to unlock the bootloader of your phone can be found on your device’s subforums on XDA.

To flash the downloaded file, follow the instructions below:

  1. Download MiFlash Tool on your Windows computer. The latest version can be found in Step 1 of this link. Once downloaded, extract the tool and install it. It is also advisable to have ADB and Fastboot installed, just in case you need it.
  2. Reboot your phone into Download mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
  3. Connect your phone to the computer using the appropriate USB cable.
  4. Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it. Remember the extract location, as you will need to paste the address into MiFlash Tool. Also, ensure that there are no spaces in the extract location path.
  5. Run MiFlash Tool on your Windows Computer and in the address bar within the tool, paste the extract location from Step 4.
  6. Click “Refresh” within MiFlash and the app should automatically recognize your device.
  7. Click “Run” within MiFlash to flash the ROM file to the device.
  8. The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, which indicates that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically to the new version.

Xiaomi has not provided specific instructions for downgrading yet.
