Full specs of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7 leak, revealing QHD 120Hz displays, Snapdragon 865+, and wireless DeX support

There’s a notable lack of decent Android tablets. It is a market segment that once flourished several years ago: Google even went so far as to launch a tablet-exclusive version of Android, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, in 2011. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich kept this tablet UI, but it slowly lost favor during the years as Android tablets fell out of fashion. Today, there are barely any decent Android alternatives to tablets such as the iPad or the Microsoft Surface, but Samsung is still keeping up the fight. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ will now try to compete for a place in the tablet market.

The device is set to pack all of the horsepower that we have come to expect from Samsung’s flagships: this is a flagship tablet, after all. The Galaxy Tab S7 series will feature a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which was recently released by Qualcomm and is already included in a number of devices, including the ASUS ROG Phone 3 as well as Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The device also features a 120Hz QHD display just like the S20 lineup, but there’s a notable catch: while the S20 phones went up to QHD and 120Hz, you couldn’t have both at the same time. It’s unclear whether this will also be the case with the Galaxy Tab S7. There will be two screen sizes: an 11-inch Tab S7 with an LCD panel (and a side fingerprint sensor) and a 12.7-inch Tab S7+ with an AMOLED panel (and an in-display fingerprint sensor).

The device also features support for wireless DeX, meaning that you can use it as a desktop computer. It will have at least 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128 GB of storage which is good, and that newer RAM technology would be interesting to experience. You will also be able to expand the storage by another TB through the microSD card slot. The cameras are nothing to be amazed, with a dual 13MP plus 5MP wide-angle shooter on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front. It does shoot 4K video, though. The battery sits at 7,040 mAh for the smaller model and 10,090 mAh for the bigger one, along with fast charging speeds of up to 45W with a separate charger. The devices will also be made available in 5G-compatible variants. The tablet series will also come with an improved S Pen stylus, likely to be advertised for its 9ms latency; and wireless DeX mode.
